Historic achievement of the Ukrainian women’s national tennis team under the leadership of the Svitolina Foundation

In September 2025, the Ukrainian women’s national tennis team made history — for the first time ever, our team advanced to the semifinals of the Billie Jean King Cup, the world team tennis championship, and reached the 5th position in the global national team rankings.

This milestone became the result of consistent and strategic work coordinated by the Svitolina Foundation, which since late 2023 has held the official mandate to manage and represent the Ukrainian women’s national team in the Billie Jean King Cup for a four-year period.

In November 2024, the Ukrainian players reached the final qualifying stage of the world championship, and in April 2025, in Radom (Poland), the team achieved brilliant victories over Poland and Switzerland — securing a historic ticket to the Finals.

The Billie Jean King Cup Finals 2025 took place on September 16–21 in Shenzhen, China, where Ukraine entered the world’s Top 4 for the first time, showcasing an outstanding level of play, unity, and determination.

The Ukrainian women’s national team included Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Yuliia Starodubtseva, Lyudmyla Kichenok, and Nadiia Kichenok, led by team captain Illya Marchenko.

The Svitolina Foundation continues to develop sports diplomacy, open new opportunities for Ukrainian athletes, and strengthen the country’s positive image worldwide through achievement, unity, and the shared values of sport.
